FROSTMOON ECLIPSE Releases Retrospective Collection Of Rare And Hard To Find Releases

Black metallers FROSTMOON ECLIPSE this week release "The Legacy" on God Is Myth Records. Specially packaged in a DVD case and designed to look like a weathered old leather-bound book, the CD contains tracks taken from hard-to-find and limited-edition MCDs and EPs, and includes previously unreleased material and live tracks recorded in Verona in 2008.

Formed in the autumn of 1994 by guitarist Claudio Alcara, FROSTMOON ECLIPSE is one of the oldest established bands on the Italian scene, mixing melodic acoustics with old-school black metal to contrast and compliment the different sounds. The band recently released "I Am Providence", Volume VI of the very limited-edition H.P. Lovecraft series. The series, also released on God Is Myth, is dedicated to the writer H.P. Lovecraft, and is unusually made up of individual albums featuring one band on each album, with each album limited to 100 copies of specially packaged 3" CD-Rs.

"It's really extraordinary that these two special editions have come up at all, let alone so close together, commented Alcara. "The Lovecraft tribute was something we were really excited about when we were asked to take part, since all the band are huge fans of this amazing writer. When God Is Myth approached us with a view to putting together and releasing 'The Legacy' we were very surprised. We hadn't even thought about doing something like this to be honest, and it's very flattering that a label should be the one to suggest it, rather than the other way around."

The band, also recently contributed a track to "Sacrifice at the Altar of the Satanic Blood Angel", a tribute to VON, while Alcara himself is preparing material for the sophomore album from his acoustic project STROSZEK.

Tracks from the latest FROSTMOON ECLIPSE album, "Another Face of Hell", along with songs from previous releases, can be heard on the band's MySpace page.
